Considering what kind of lawn to install in your garden? Naturally, there are a variety of options and one of the most commonly discussed is synthetic grass turf.

Artificial turf or synthetic grass was developed during the 1960s by a team of researchers under the leadership of David Chaney who was Dean of North Carolina State University College of Textiles, USA. His invention lead to major changes in the world of indoor sporting events and many stadiums started installing artificial turf instead of grass or other surfaces; clay for tennis as an example. Much additional research was further undertaken in the field, leading ultimate to the present situation whereby artificial turf and synthetic grass has become a common household name.

Similar to that of natural grass
Artificial fibers are synthetic grass, which are synthetic fibers. They looks like natural grass and hence are widely used in lawns as an alternative to natural grass. High quality synthetic grass uses polyester tire cord for the backing of synthetic grass. Nylon or polypropylene is used to make the blades of the grass. The Nylon blades are produced through an extrusion process by using special moulds to get the desired look. The processed blades’ look exactly matches natural grass. Fine UV resistant compounds are used to provide a long lasting life, while a cushioning system is created by using rubber compounds or polyester foam. Sometimes these objectives are met through recycled vehicle tyres. Colour retention, strength and durability are given also due attention.

Fix it and forget it
Today we can see that more and more people are turning towards synthetic grass turfs due to the convenience in installation and maintenance. Just as with the commercial slogan, “fix it and forget it”, there are no more worries of taking care of the turf again and again. Sizing up the many advantages of artificial grass, its low maintenance cost comes out on top.

No watering
After the initial cost of installation, there is only some minor periodical maintenance, and no regular watering at all! Simply wash it to look fresh and vacuum clean it from time to time. Consider also new synthetic grass turfs that carry quality guarantees, often offering free replacement in the event colour fades within the guarantee period or if any excessive damages happens.

Playability
The playability of the synthetic grass is much higher than that of natural grass. Synthetic grass turfs are all-weather grass fields. Most synthetic grass turfs are prepared with proper fixing for drainage systems and even after a heavy rain the turf will be ready for play within 10-15 minutes. Soft grass helps people to play safely in the grass; little chances of getting torn up by rough activities. The sturdy, soft turf will always be reliable and free of any slippery conditions.
